Overview of the Region To get to Catanduanes, one can conveniently reach it by air or by sea. BY AIR Philippine Airlines serves the airflight going to Catanduanes from Manila. It takes about 55 minutes. There are daily scheduled flights from Manila to Virac. BY LAND Air-conditioned buses travel direct from Manila to Virac daily. Other air-conditioned buses can take you from Manila to the Port of Tabaco where a ferry boat can take you across to Virac, Catanduanes. Scheduled trips leave the Araneta Center in Cubao and in Pedro Gil St., in Malate, Manila daily. BY SEA For the more adventurous tourists and sightseeing travelers, Virac is best reached through the seas. There are two boats--M/V Virac and M/V Peñafrancia--that serve the Tabaco-Virac route and vice versa. Travel time is normally four hours. Another boat--MV Regina Calixta--serves the Tabaco-San Andres route daily. Travel time is two and a half hours.
