Overview of the Region
Camarines Norte is composed of 12 municipalities, 282 barangays and one congressional district spread over a land area of 2,320.1 square kilometers. It had a population of 470,654 as of May 1, 2000 with a growth rate of 1.50 percent from 1995 to 2000.
The capital town of Daet boasts of being the first municipality in the entire Philippines to erect a public statue of our National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. The tourist attractions in the
province are the Shrine of the Black Nazarene in Capalonga, the Bicol National Park in
Basud and Daet, the San Miguel and Lamon Bays, the Apuao Island in the north and the Daet
Pineapple Festival held on June 15 - 21 every year. |
