The rate of increase in consumer prices in
the Bicol Region accelerated in April, posting a 0.3 percentage point rise
from 2.7 percent the previous month. The year-on-year change stood at 3.0
percent, the same level as the national average. Higher inflation rates
for most of the commodity groups resulted to the current level of
inflation. Across regions, Region I (Ilocos) recorded the lowest inflation
at 1.2 percent whereas Regions III (Central Luzon) and XIII (Caraga)
registered the highest at 4.3 percent each respectively.
BICOL'S JOBLESS RATE IS AT 6.8 PERCENT IN JANUARY More Bicolanos were employed in January, as unemployment rate slipped to 6.8 percent, 0.3 percentage point lower than the rate registered in the same period the previous year. This was the result of the latest round of the Labor Force Survey conducted by the National Statistics Office. Consequently, employment rate improved to 93.2 percent from 92.9 percent the past year.
