APPROVING THE 2003-2005 POVERTY MAPS OF THE
PROVINCE OF LAGUNA
WHEREAS,
poverty mapping is an activity initiated by the NSCB to provide
local government units with an additional tool for planning,
programming, implementation and monitoring of poverty alleviation
initiatives;
WHEREAS,
poverty maps provide a Minimum Basic Needs (MBN) indicator-based
measure of poverty for comparison across municipalities/cities in
a province over time using Geographic Information System (GIS)
technology to illustrate the indicators into maps for visual
appreciation of the conditions and locations of the poor;
WHEREAS,
data generation, data cleaning and validation, computation of
indexes and basic GIS software application for the preparation of
the maps were provided by the NSCB Regional Division IV to the
province of Laguna;
WHEREAS,
the outputs of the poverty mapping activity have undergone a
validation process with local officers, representatives of data
source agencies and other stakeholders in the province;
WHEREAS,
the poverty maps of Laguna were presented by the NSCB Regional
Division IV to the members of the RSCC for approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED
to approve the poverty maps of the province of
Laguna.
RESOLVED, FURTHER,
that the
Provincial Government of Laguna be furnished of this resolution.
