In CALABARZON, a family of five needed Php 7,401
monthly income in 2006 to stay out of poverty?
In 2006, the
annual per capita poverty threshold in CALABARZON was estimated at
17,761 pesos, an increase of 20.7 percent over the poverty threshold in
2003. This means that a family of five in the region would need at
least 7,401 pesos a month in order to be considered as non-poor.
Moreover, the regional figure is higher by 2,704 pesos compared to the
national threshold which was estimated at 15,057 pesos.

Oriental Mindoro had the most number of women in
especially difficult circumstances assisted by the DSWD?
In 2006, a total number of 112 women in especially difficult
circumstances (WEDC) were aided by the Department of Social Welfare and
Development (DSWD) in the MIMAROPA region. Half or 56 cases of WEDC served
by the DSWD in MIMAROPA were recorded in Oriental Mindoro. Out of these 56
cases, most involved physical abuse and maltreatment.

The National
Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) Regional Division IV (RD IV) announces
the release of the First Edition of The Countryside in Figures: Oriental
Mindoro (CIF: Oriental Mindoro). The publication is available in printed
and CD ROM copies. The CIF: Oriental Mindoro presents data on various
sectors of the province, its component city and municipalities.

In 2006, pills were the most popular modern
contraceptive method used in CALABARZON
Based
on the report of the 2006 Family Planning Survey (FPS) conducted by the
National Statistics Office (NSO) in April 2006, almost the same situation
regarding the use of contraceptive method in the country held true in
CALABARZON. It was noted that 53.5 percent of the married women covered by
the survey in the region were using family planning methods. One in two
married women in CALABARZON was a contraceptive user with pill as the most
popular modern method.

2007 RSET CALABARZON and MIMAROPA NOW AVAILABLE
The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) Regional Division IV (RD
IV) announces the release of the 2007 Regional Social and Economic Trends (RSET)
CALABARZON and MIMAROPA. The publication is, in the meantime, available in
CD ROM copies only. The 2007
RSET presents data on various sectors of
the Regions IV-A and IV-B. The publication also covers the provinces and
cities of the two regions. RSET is consist of 17 chapters covering the
different sectors of the society.
