For the 22nd National Statistics Month (NSM) Celebration this October 2011, the Opening Ceremonies scheduled on October 3, 2011, will be graciously hosted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XII. This year’s NSM theme is “Quality Social Protection Statistics for Focused Targeting: Improving Outcomes, Changing Lives”. DSWD-XII Planning Officer II, Ms. Bebeth T. Mampen, presented the agency’s plans for the 22nd NSM Opening Ceremonies in the region. According to Ms. Mampen, the proposed activities for the October 3 opening salvo will include a motorcade and the launching of the results of the DSWD survey for the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR). The RSCC-XII will spearhead the month-long regional celebration per National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) Memo Circular 01-2011. Government agencies/offices, local government units, the academe and the private sector in the region have lined-up several statistical-related activities to advocate and show support for the month-long celebration. On the release of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Ms. Caraan announced that the revised/rebased GRDP estimates are targeted to be released on 29 March 2012. This is due to the amount of work that needs to be done in incorporating the developments in the new set of international statistical standards and guidelines of the updated 1993/2008 System of National Accounts (SNA) and the rebasing of the GRDP from the 1985 base year to 2000.
