Philippine Statistical Yearbook

     The Philippine Statistical Yearbook (PSY) is an annual publication of the National Statistical Coordination Board. It contains a compilation of major economic and social statistical information produced by various government agencies as well as data from international organizations. It is a convenient statistical reference for those engaged in corporate planning, market forecasting, and technical studies.

     Data are available on the national level with some regional breakdowns for particular socio-economic areas, namely: population and housing; income and prices; natural resources; agriculture; industrial sector; foreign trade; balance of payments; tourism; health and nutrition; education; labor and employment; social services; social services; transportation and communication; energy and water resources; public finance; and money and banking. An added component is a section on selected economic and social indicators of selected countries in the world.

Regional Social and Economic Trends

     The Regional Social and Economic Trends (RSET) contains more than 170 tables on the physical, social and economic aspects of the region and its provinces, cities and municipalities. The data series presented range from population to trade and industry, income and prices, environment and natural resources, social services and public order, safety and justice. Each of the more than 15 chapters of the RSET contains a brief description of the contents, uses and sources of the data as well as graphs and charts which can facilitate the analyses of the data series.

     This publication is prepared by the NSCB Regional Units and are available for the following regions: Ilocos, Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Western Mindanao and Central Mindanao. It is primarily intended for use by planners, decision makers, educators and researchers in the government, business, academic communities, research institutions and the general public. Accompanying this publication is another document entitled Definition of Terms and Concepts Used in the RSET.

Economic and Social Indicators

     The Economic and Social Indicators (ESI) is a series of annual publications of statistical indicators aimed at measuring and monitoring the accomplishments of the economy vis-a-vis the economic and social development goals set forth in the country’s medium and long term plans. In this annual publication, more than a hundred indicators grouped into four development goals/areas of concern are included in the publication. In addition, definitions of terms and technical notes are discussed in the appendices.

Statistical Handbook on Women and Men in the Philippines

     This handbook on women and men is an attempt to present statistics in a user-friendly, interesting and easy to understand way through simple tables and charts as well as brief analyses and short explanatory texts. It hopes to provide information to planners, researchers and other users as guide in advocacy work and in the formulation of plans, programs, and policies for the advancement of women. This publication is available in English and Filipino editions.

Philippine Yearbook

     The Philippine Yearbook (PY) is an annual publication of the National Statistics Office. It provides both local and foreign readers with a comprehensive statistical information and facts on the various aspects of the country’s development. Covering at the time of its preparation, the latest available data on the geophysical, political, socio-economic, cultural, and demographic features of the country.

     Textual analyses accompany the tables and graphs in each of the twenty-four chapters to make the data more meaningful and suitable to any user’s individual field of interest. The 1995 edition contains a special feature on overseas Filipino workers.

National Accounts of the Philippines

     This publication presents measures of the aggregate or sum of factor incomes/payments arising from the production activities of the country. It validates the total final goods and services produced in a given period and at such records the contribution of the various economic sectors to the total performance of the economy. The National Accounts also records the flows from production to consumption, accumulation and foreign trade. Quarterly, semestral and annual estimates are available. Data on Gross Domestic Product by region are also available annually.

Dictionary of Selected Statistical Terms

     This publication contains a collection of common statistical terms, concepts, and indicators regularly used by data producers and users. It aims to promote uniform interpretation of terms used in censuses, surveys, and development plans. The formula and method of computation, including illustration for each term are provided together with its standard definition and explanation. Information contained in the document is based on current official standards being used by concerned government agencies.

Manual on the Preparation of Statistical Project Proposals

     This publication is meant to provide a practical guide in the development of statistical project proposals. It provides a comprehensive discussion of the strategies and procedures in concept development, planning and packaging of proposals, including several examples and illustrations, for undertaking statistical development projects to enhance their viability and marketability.

Central Bank of the Philippines Annual Statistical Bulletin

     This contains statistical series on money and banking and other economic indicators which are necessary in measuring the impact of fiscal policies and measures adopted by the Monetary Board including the performance of the monetary system. Data presented are mostly national in scope with some disaggregation for key cities and municipalities.

Philippine Standard Classifications

     At present, there are six (6) standard classification systems developed and prescribed for adoption, namely:

  1. Philippine Standard Commodity Classification (PSCC) is a detailed classification of commodities that enters the Philippine trade. The classification of commodities were presented in six (6) levels of details: section, division, group, subgroup, item and sub-item;

  2. Philippine Standard Occupational Classification (PSOC) is a classification of the various occupations of the labor force for the country, including those of the military;

  3. Philippine Classification of Commodities By Broad Economic Categories (PCCBEC) is a classification of all commodities that entered the Philippine trade according to their main end use;

  4. Philippine Standard Geographic Classification (PSGC) presents a systematic classification and coding of geographic areas in the country;

  5. Philippine Standard Classification on Education (PSCEd) is a classification of the various course programs within the different levels of our educational system; and,

  6. Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC) is a classification of industries prevailing in the country according to their specific activities.

Market Bulletin Series

     This publication is published by the Philippine Statistical association, Inc. and provides information on marketing flows and channels of specific commodities (calamansi, bananas, tomatoes, grains, papaya, onions, garlic, cabbage, baguio beans, white potato, ampalaya, squash, stringbeans, eggplant, mango, etc.) It contains information regarding buying and selling specifications seasonality; geographic flow; marketing participants, channels, functions and practices and linkages; price information; and differentiation; and marketing information needs and problems.

AGSTAT VIEW: Early Warnings

     This monthly publication by the Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. provides a review, update and forecast of key parameters on certain crops including that of the livestock and poultry industry. Data are usually presented in tables and/or graphs including bullet-type analysis. The document would be very useful in decision making and model building in the agribusiness sector.
