Stat News Davao City Hosts Major International Tourism Event The 25th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Tourist Forum (ATF), marked as a major international tourism event, opens today January 13, 2006 here in Davao City, the major tourism destination of Davao region. About 2,500 delegates from 10 member-countries of the ASEAN like Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam are expected to join this major event. Non-ASEAN member countries such as Japan, China, Korea, Australia, Russian, and United States will also grace the ATF. There are also 100 invited guests from Manila and 300 from Davao. To sum it all, about 3,000 guests are expected to attend the most celebrated event here in Davao Meetings, conferences, exhibits, tours, and dinner are some of the activities that the delegates of the ATF will be going through. Some of the local government units of Mindanao and the Mindanao Economic Development Council, (MEDCo) are also hosting lunch and dinner for the delegates. Plugged as the most prestigious tourism event in the ASEAN, the ATF is a joint effort to uphold the ASEAN as a single tourist destination. This international tourism event will be formally opened on January 17, 2006 and will close on January 20, 2006. |
