NSCB XI Releases Women and Men
in Davao Region 2008

(PR-200804-R11-03,
Posted 30 April 2008)
The Women and Men in
Davao Region 2008 is the third edition of this statistical handbook. In
keeping with the previous publication,
its preparation was
intensely devoted to addressing the prevailing gender issues and concerns in
Region XI. This handbook is thus an ardent attempt to provide a tool for
promoting awareness on women issues, and for presenting facts towards the
formulation of better gender and development (GAD) policies and
interventions in Region XI and in its provinces and cities.
This handbook presents
the latest available statistics on women and men in Region XI (Davao Region)
within the areas of concern of the Davao City Women Development Code of
1997. Each chapter provides a brief discussion of the relevant issues,
comparative time series data, charts, and analysis of key indicators. In
this edition, the Gender and Development chapter has been expanded to give
way to the data collected by the Gender Watch Committee’s Mindanao-wide
monitoring of gender and reproductive health concerns. The provincial/city
disaggregation of basic data in all chapters provides a deeper dimension to
the statistical information presented. This serves to advocate the
discussion and resolution of gender issues and concerns and promote the use
of statistics at these levels. The handbook includes technical notes that
provide definition to selected terminologies included in this handbook. This
handbook also provides a list of Philippine Laws in Support of women’s
welfare and rights.
The
Women and Men in Davao
Region 2008
is also available on a user-friendly CD-ROM version.
