NSCB XI Releases 2005 and 2006
Poverty Maps of Compostela Valley

The
National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) Regional Division XI has
finished the updated poverty maps of the province of Compostela Valley. The
updated 2005-2006 poverty maps of Comval will be presented in the
forthcoming regular meeting of the Regional Statistical Coordination
Committee (RSCC) – XI scheduled on April 26, 2007. During the meeting, the
RSCC members will approve the maps for dissemination to the public.
Compostela
Valley was the first province to update their poverty maps in line with the
institutionalization of poverty mapping activities in the provinces and
interested cities of Region XI. The first poverty maps of Comval were
generated in 2003 covering the period 2000 and 2002. The 2005-2006 poverty
maps of Comval were although the second updated poverty maps in Region XI
after Panabo City made an update in 2006.
The
updated poverty maps of Comval includes the following indicators: newborn
with birthweight less than 2.5 kgs., children below 6 years old whose weight
are below normal (low and very low), children below 6 years old whose weight
are above normal, children 7-10 years old whose weight are below normal,
children 7-10 years old whose weight are above normal, infant mortality
rate, child mortality rate, percent of health workers, percent of households
without access to safe water, number of crimes against person, number of
crimes against property, elementary functional illiteracy rate, and domestic
violence reported to police and DSWD.
