Poverty Maps of Davao del Sur in CD-Rom

The National Statistical
Coordination Board (NSCB) Regional Division XI, in collaboration with the
Provincial Planning and Development Office of Davao del Sur produced the
cd-rom version of the poverty maps of Davao del Sur province. The cd-rom
version contains the thematic maps for 2003 and 2005 and their corresponding
indexes. It also shows some information of the province, list of poverty
mapping indicators, and an explanation on how to read the maps.
The poverty maps of Davao
del Sur will be presented in a Users’ Forum as some cd-rom copies of the
maps will be distributed. Among the expected participants are CPDC/MPDC or
their representatives from the 11 municipalities/city of Davao del Sur, from
the Provincial Government and from selected provincial and regional line
agencies. The participants are expected to validate the maps and suggest
ways to improve them.
The poverty maps contains indicators such as:
underweight and overweight children 0-5 years old, new born with birthweight
less than 2.5 kgs., infant mortality rate, child mortality rate, percent of
health workers, number of households with access to safe water, number of
crimes against person, number of crimes against property, elementary
non-participation rate, elementary cohort non- survival rate, and domestic
violence reported to police and DSWD. It also shows composite indexes such
as for health, survival, security, and enabling.
The Davao del Sur poverty maps is the fifth set of
poverty maps produced by NSCB XI. The other poverty maps was made for the
provinces of Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, and the
city of Panabo. These maps attempt to respond to the demands for more
locally disaggregated statistics useful for local planners, investors and
other stakeholders.
