XI Releases 1st Edition of Countryside in Figures:

In line with its thrust
of continuously providing the public with comprehensive socio-economic data
with local level of disaggregation, the National Statistical Coordination
Board (NSCB), Regional Division (RD) XI, releases the first edition of the
Countryside in Figures (CIF), Davao del Sur: 2005 Edition.
The publication
contains relevant statistics/indicators comparing the performance of Davao
del Sur with the other provinces in the country and of the fourteen (14)
municipalities of the province.
The CIF: Davao del Sur
is a useful statistical portfolio for local planners, investors, and other
groups interested in Davao del Sur as a venue for investment and
development. Through the Countryside in Figures (CIF), the local government
units (LGUs), the national government and other key stakeholders can
determine the appropriate intervention programs that should be introduced in
the province, cities and municipalities to improve the conditions of the
people.
This maiden issue
contains statistical indicators on nine (9) sectors with provincial and
city/municipal disaggregation: general information, governance, income and
expenditures, prices, agriculture and natural resources, health and
nutrition statistics, education, tourism, & public order, safety and
justice. For indicators where higher levels are desirable, the data and rate
were ranked from highest to lowest. On the other hand, indicators where
lower levels are desired, the data and rate were ranked from lowest to
highest.
The CIF: Davao del Sur
is the provincial version of “The Philippine Countryside in Figures”, an
annual publication of the NSCB Central Office which presents the latest
available general information and statistics on governance, family income,
etc. of the 79 provinces and selected cities in the country. The publication
is also the second CIF issue produced by NSCB RDXI for the Davao Region. The
first CIF: Compostela Valley province was released last year.
After the successful
linkage with the two provinces, NSCB RDXI will release the CIF: Davao
Oriental and CIF: Davao del Norte in the next two years.
The CIF: Davao del Sur
and CIF: Compostela Valley are now available at the National Statistical
Information Center (NSIC) library, which is open to the public for free. The
NSIC Region XI branch is located at 2nd Floor, Amparo Bldg., JP
Laurel Ave., Bajada, Davao City (in front of Gaisano Mall). Copies of the
publications (available in print and in CD-Rom) can also be acquired at the
NSIC bookshoppe at a very minimal price. Inquiries regarding the publication
