RSCC XI conducts First Regular
Meeting (posted

The Regional Statistical
Coordination Committee (RSCC) XI held its first regular meeting for the year on
February 12, 2013
at the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA)
XI in Davao City. The following were the business agenda of the
meeting: (1) Presentation of the 2012 Accomplishment Report and 2013 RSCC XI
Policy Agenda; (2) Presentation and discussion on 2009 Poverty Statistics
for Basic Sectors; (3) Updates on Regional Poverty Mapping; (4) Presentation
and discussion on 2009 Human Development Index; (5) ICT Statistics; (6)
Discussion on NSIC Satellite; (7) Expansion of RSCC XI Membership; and (8)
12th National Convention on Statistics. The first meeting of the year was presided by the NEDA XI
Director and RSCC XI chair, Ms. Maria Lourdes D. Lim.

(RSET) for the
Davao
Region
is now available. It is the fifth RSET publication produced by the National
Statistical Coordination Board Regional Division XI
(NSCB RD
XI).
The RSET Davao Region is part of the continuing effort of the NSCB RD XI in
its desire to provide timely, relevant, accurate and useful data to
government planners, decision makers, investors, researchers, general public
and to other stakeholders.

FACTSHEET:
Davao del Sur posts highest HDI in
Region XI in 2009

The
2009 Human Development Index (HDI) released by the National
Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) and Human Development Network (HDN),
revealed that people living in Davao del Sur enjoy a better quality of
life as the province posted the highest HDI compared to the other three
provinces in Davao Region in 2009 at 0.626. The province ranked 23rd
among the 79 provinces in the country and its GDI of 0.626 is slightly
lower than the 0.633 national average. On the other hand, Davao Oriental
had the lowest HDI in the region at 0.370 in 2009. (more

Region XI posts 63.8 Labor Force Participation
Rate

Results from the October 2012 Labor Force Survey (LFS)
conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO) revealed that in Davao
region, out of the estimated 3.1 million population 15 years old and
over, 2 million of them were in the labor force. This translates to a
labor force participation rate (LFPR) of 63.8 percent for Region XI in
October 2012, which was a 5.3 percentage points lower compared to the
69.1 percent it posted the previous year of the same period. (more

University of the
Philippines in Mindanao students win 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place in the 21st
PSQ Regional Championship

The
National Statistics Office XI conducted the 21st Philippine
Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Regional Championship last November 20, 2012 at
Sequoia Inn, Monteverde St., Davao City. Seven colleges and universities
in Davao Region participated the said event, these are: University of
the Philippines in Mindanao (UP-Min); University of Southeastern
Philippines (USEP) Obrero Campus; USEP Tagum Campus; Ateneo de Davao
University (ADDU); University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC);
University of Mindanao (UM) Tagum Campus; and Davao Oriental State
College of Science and Technology (DOSCST).
