Region’s economy showed a stronger performance as it posted a 6.7
percent growth in 2007. The region’s growth from 4.3 percent in 2006

RELEASE: Poverty Maps of Davao Oriental in CD-Rom
The National
Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) Regional Division XI, in
collaboration with the Provincial Planning and Development Office of
Davao Oriental produced the cd-rom version of the poverty maps of Davao
Oriental province. The cd-rom version contains the thematic maps for
2005 and 2006 and their corresponding indexes. It also shows some
information of the province, list of poverty mapping indicators, and an
explanation on how to read the maps. |

Poverty in Davao Region worsens between 2003 and 2006
The latest poverty data released by
the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) indicated that in
2006, poverty incidence of families, or the proportion of families with
per capita income below the poverty threshold, increased to 30.6 percent
compared with the 28.5 percent in 2003. This corresponds to an increase
of |

percentage points during the three years period. However, Davao region’s
poverty incidence maintained as the lowest in Mindanao in terms of the
proportion of poor families. |

PRESS RELEASE: Poverty Worsens between 2003 and 2006
Poverty incidence increased to 26.9%
for families in 2006 compared to 24.4% in 2003. This is however lower
than the 27.5 % poverty incidence in 2000. In terms of poverty incidence
among population, out of 100 Filipinos, 33 were poor in 2006, compared
to 30 in 2003. |
