The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), through its Regional Divisions (RDs), is committed to disseminate relevant information generated by the Philippine Statistical System to address the demand for more and diversified statistics for development planning at the regional and local level. As part of this commitment, the NSCB continues to update and publish local level data. The Regional Social and Economic Trends (RSET) for the Northern Mindanao Region presents comprehensive data on the various sectors of the region and its component provinces, cities, and municipalities.
The RSET features annual time series data that are useful for planning and decision-making and for setting policies towards effective governance and improved service delivery at the local level. It also contains data that are disaggregated in different dimensions and includes a glossary of terms of official concepts and definitions for statistical purposes as approved by the NSCB Executive Board.
For the 2010 edition, Gini concentration ratios are included to measure inequality in the distribution of income. Small Area Estimates (SAE) on poverty, for years 2000 and 2003, are also included to measure poverty at municipal levels. Moreover, data on poverty gap and severity are also added to give a better picture on the changes of poverty. This edition also includes new tables on Population and Housing based on updates on the 2007 Census on Population. New tables for Economic Accounts and Vital Health and Nutrition are also included.
We acknowledge with gratitude the invaluable contributions of our various data sources without which the publication of the RSET would not have been possible. We likewise appreciate the support of our clients who patronize and recognize this publication as an important tool to inform their decisions. To continue improving our statistical products and services, we enjoin both our data sources and users to share their comments and suggestions to guide us in improving future editions of the RSET and other publications of the NSCB.
The publication (CD-ROM version) is now available at the National Statistical Information Center (NSIC) library, which is open to the public for free from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mondays to Fridays. The NSIC is a one-stop shop of statistical information and services managed by the NSCB. The Northern Mindanao Branch is currently located at Door # 8 Mortola Building, J. R. Borja Street, Cagayan de Oro City.
