RSCC I Conducts Special Meeting to Discuss Statistical
Issues and Concerns
The
Regional Statistical Coordination Committee (RSCC) I will conduct a special
meeting on October 19, 2007 to discuss the statistical problems and issues
affecting the subnational statistical system.
The meeting aims to present the
subnational statistical issues and concerns as contained in the paper presented by the RSCC I Chair and NEDA
Regional Director, Director Leonardo N.
Quitos, Jr., during the 10th National Convention on Statistics on
October 2, 2007 at the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel in Mandaluyong City. After the presentation of the issues and
concerns, the Committee will discuss
how to
address the issues and concerns
for the improvement of Region 1’s
statistical system.
The
paper included the statistical issues and concerns beyond the experiences of
Region 1 as the different regions of
the country provided inputs to the study.
The statistical issues and concerns included in the paper cover the four
major areas of concern of the Philippine Statistical System, namely: statistical planning and coordination,
statistical data production and
dissemination, statistical human resource development, and statistical research
and development. Recommendations on how
to address the statistical issues and
concerns were likewise included.
Aside
from the regular members of the RSCC, the project monitoring and evaluation
officers, planning officers and statisticians of the local government units
(LGUs) will be invited to attend the meeting. The meeting will be held at the
ORT Training Center in San Fernando City, La Union from 1:30 – 5:00 PM. It will be sponsored by the NEDA Regional
Office 1 with the NSCB Regional Division 1 providing the secretariat services.
The
fourth regular meeting of the RSCC will be held on December 2007.
