RSCC ISSUES RESOLUTION ON THE GENERATION OF OFW DATA

To address the issue on the unavailability of  quarterly  regional and provincial data on Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), the Regional Statistical Coordination Committee (RSCC) Region I issued Resolution No. 19, s. 2006 requesting concerned data sources to generate data on OFWs from their administrative records.  It was noted that agencies dealing with OFWs such as the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) have administrative forms which could be processed to generate quarterly data on OFWs with provincial disaggregation such as number of OFWs and their total remittances.

The resolution was passed during the 4th regular meeting of the RSCC which was held on December 13, 2006 at the NEDA Regional Office 1 in San Fernando City, La Union. The other topics discussed during the meeting were the highlights of the 2006 NSM celebration, 3rd quarter 2006 Regional Economic Situationer,  and results of the survey on hunger incidence  in the  Philippines.  The winners of the 2006 Search for Best NSM Province (Pangasinan)  and Activity (Dep Ed Pangasinan Symposium) were also announced and awarded during the meeting.  The meeting was sponsored by the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics and National Statistics Office.
