Regional Offices Prepare Their 2007 Advance Release Calendars

To promote transparency, accessibility and timeliness of government information, the regional offices of Region 1 prepared their 2007 Advance Release Calendars (ARCs) of Statistical Outputs/Data to inform the public as to what and when statistics generated by their offices become available. The ARCs contain the list of statistical outputs/data that will be released by concerned offices including the status of the data (final or preliminary), geographic disaggregation, period covered, schedule of dissemination, form of dissemination, contact person and contact numbers.

The preparation of ARCs was started in 2003 with the issuance of Resolution No. 20, s. 2003 by the Regional Statistical Coordination Committee (RSCC) enjoining all agencies engaged in the generation of statistical information in the region to disseminate their ARCs. The RSCC is the highest policy making and coordinating body on statistical matters in the region. The Regional Division (RD) I of the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), the secretariat of the RSCC, consolidates the agency calendars and these are posted in the NSCB RD I website (http://www.nscb.gov.ph/ru1/CY 2007 ARC.pdf). The agencies are required to submit their statistical outputs/data to the RSCC/NSCB RD 1 for monitoring purposes. The actual date of release of the outputs/data are reflected in the ARC Monitoring Report which is also posted in the NSCB RD website. The released statistical outputs/data could be accessed at the National Statistical Information Center (NSIC), a one-stop-shop of statistical information and services which is being managed by NSCB RD 1.

As of January 31, 2007, the following regional offices have submitted their ARCs: Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Office of Civil Defense (OCD), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Nutrition Council (NNC), and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
