NSCB EXECUTIVE BOARD APPROVES FIVE CENSUS 2000 RESOLUTIONS

Five resolutions to ensure the successful conduct of Census 2000 were approved by the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) Executive Board during its 1st Regular Meeting held on March 18, 1999 at the NEDA Board Room in Pasig City.

The resolutions were: Res. No. 3, s. 1999, "Enjoining Agencies to Provide Assistance for the Conduct of the Census 2000"; Res. No. 4, s. 1999, "Approving the Terms of Reference of the Provincial, City and Municipal Census Coordinating Councils in the Conduct of the 2000 Census of Population and Housing"; Res. No. 5, s. 1999, "Approving the Creation of a Task Force on Census 2000"; Res. No. 6, s. 1999, "Endorsing to Congress, Through the Department of Budget and Management, the Approval of Census 2000 Budget", and, Res. No. 7, s. 1999, "Declaring June 1999 to May 2000 As the Millennium Census Year".

The 2000 Census of Population and Housing will be conducted on May 1, 2000 in accordance with Batas Pambansa Blg. 72 which provides for the taking of an integrated census every ten years beginning in 1980, in accordance with plans prepared by the National Census and Statistics Office (NCSO), now National Statistics Office (NSO). Census enumeration will cover the whole month of May 2000 with public school teachers serving as enumerators and supervisors. Preliminary results by municipality/age/sex will be available in August 2000 and the final count by December 2000. The 2000 Census has a proposed budget of P912 million.
