NUMBER OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS (CBAs) IN REGION I UP BY 14.8% IN 1998
The number of CBAs in Region I increased by 14.8% in 1998 (31) compared to the previous year (27). Likewise, the number of workers covered in the CBAs expanded by 13.0% from 3,141 in 1997 to 3,548 in 1998. There were seven newly filed CBAs in 1998 while three have expired. Workers covered by the newly filed CBAs comprised 14.0% (495) of the total workers covered, down by 46.2% from the 920 workers covered by newly filed CBAs in 1997. Pangasinan posted the greatest number of CBAs (14) in 1998 while La Union registered the highest number of workers covered (1,600).
