| StatNews Posted 18 July 2000 ILOCOS REGIONS GRDP REGISTERS A 2.5 PERCENT GROWTH IN 1999 The Ilocos Regions Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at constant 1985 prices registered a 2.5 percent growth in 1999, lower than the previous years 4.3 percent growth. The GRDP is an aggregate measure of goods and services produced by the regional economy. The weak performance of the Industry Sector, which exhibited a negative 11.8 percent growth, contributed to the lower growth. However, the Agriculture, Fishery and Forestry (AFF) and Service sectors, which recorded a 7.2 and 4.7 percent growth, respectively, managed to dampen the effects of the decline. The biggest contributors of this years GRDP are the AFF and the Service sectors, accounting for 41.9 and 41.5 percent, respectively, of the total economy of the region, only.
