Statistical System The RSCC/Resolutions Passed RSCC I Resolution No. 16, s. 2003 REQUESTING THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF LA UNION THRU GOV. VICTOR F. ORTEGA, FOR THE INSTITUTIONALIZATION OF THE POVERTY MAPPING ACTIVITY IN THE PROVINCE WHEREAS, in recognition of the need to regularly provide planners and decision makers with useful tools for the formulation of poverty reduction strategies, the National Statistical Coordination Board, in close coordination with the Provincial Government of La Union, has initiated efforts to produce poverty maps for the province of La Union; WHEREAS, poverty maps make possible the integration of data from various sources such as surveys and administrative-based data and from such different disciplines such as social, economic and environment data; WHEREAS, poverty maps will assist the Local Government Units (LGUs) in identifying the geographical location of the poor in the area; WHEREAS, the conduct of the poverty mapping activity in the province established the capability of the local government unit to produce and process the data from their administrative forms; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to request the Provincial Government of La Union, thru Gov. Victor F. Ortega, for the institutionalization of the poverty mapping activity in the province; RESOLVED FURTHER, to request the LGU to provide funds for the activity such as the purchase of a GIS software which will be needed in the production of poverty maps and the training of LGU personnel on the GIS software; RESOLVED MOREOVER, to request the LGU to designate the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) as the lead office in the poverty mapping activities; RESOLVED FINALLY, to request the LGU for the annual production of the poverty maps and for the maps to be provided to the NSCB RD I for inclusion in the National Statistical Information Center.
