ENJOINING CONCERNED OFFICES TO GENERATE DATA IN SUPPORT OF THE ESTIMATION OF GROSS PROVINCIAL DOMESTIC PRODUCT  (GPDP)

          WHEREAS, the NSCB has been mandated to generate estimates on Gross Domestic Product which serves as a single measure of the economic performance of an area during a given accounting period;

            WHEREAS, present estimates of the NSCB on GDP are disaggregated at the national and regional levels only;

            WHEREAS,  the demand for a  provincial counterpart of the GDP (GPDP) has been increasing to support micro-level planning and decision making;

            WHEREAS,  the generation of GPDP has been pilot-tested in Palawan in 1994 through the sponsorship of the Provincial Government of Palawan and the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff with encouraging results;

            WHEREAS, the generation of GPDP estimates by the NSCB would depend a lot on the availability of additional resources and provincial level data from the government and private sectors;

            WHEREAS, the GPDP could serve as a framework for the improvement of a province’s data system;

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to enjoin concerned offices to generate data in support of the estimation of the GPDP as indicated in Annex A hereto attached;

            RESOLVED, FURTHER, to request the Provincial Planning and Development Offices (PPDOs) to compile the GPDP data requirements from the various data sources for submission to the NSCB Regional Division 1.
