RSCC I Resolution No.11, s. 2003 

APPROVING THE COMMON ACTIVITIES FOR THE 14^TH NATIONAL STATISTICS MONTH (NSM) CELEBRATION
IN REGION I

WHEREAS, the 14^th National Statistics Month (NSM) will be celebrated this October 2003 pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 “Declaring the Month of October Every Year as the National Statistics Month” with the theme “Sustaining Tourism’s Competitive Edge Through Statistics”;

WHEREAS, the NSCB issued NSCB Memorandum Circular No. 01-03 “Enjoining All Government Agencies at the National and Subnational Levels and the Private Sector to Actively Support and Participate in 14^th NSM celebration” ;

WHEREAS, this NSCB Memo Circular also designated the RSCC as the over-all coordinating body of the celebration in the region;

WHEREAS, the region shall be implementing common/institutionalized activities with assistance from RSCC member-agencies while other agencies will be conducting their own statistical activities for the month-long celebration; 

WHEREAS, the Secretariat proposed the following common activities for the 14^th NSM;                          

WHEREAS, the RSCC recommended the Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Office (RO) I to be this year’s host of the Regional Opening Ceremonies since this year’s theme focuses on Tourism; 

WHEREAS, the RSCC recommended the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, being the annual sponsor of the Closing Ceremonies at the national level and the Philippine Statistical Association (PSA) Region I Chapter, as the organization in-charge of statistical advocacy activity among academic institutions, to co-sponsor and sponsor, respectively, the same activities for the 14^th NSM celebration in the region;

WHEREAS, the RSCC also suggested the Provincial Government of La Union, being a development-oriented Local Government Unit (LGU),  to sponsor the Regional Closing Ceremonies to encourage LGUs to participate more in the NSM celebration;    

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to approve the 14^th NSM common activities of Region I and to enjoin the recommended sponsors of the common activities;

RESOLVED FURTHER, to enjoin the recommended sponsors of the common activities to support the activities;

RESOLVED FINALLY, to enjoin the various government agencies, academe and private offices to actively participate and support the celebration for the 14^th NSM this October 2003.
