RSCC I Resolution No. 01, s.2009 ENDORSING TO THE NATIONAL STATISTICS OFFICE (NSO) THE PRIORITIZED LIST OF DATA ITEMS FOR INCLUSION IN THE 2010 POPULATION CENSUS (POPCEN) WHEREAS, Batas Pambasa Bldg. 72 provides for the conduct of a national census of population and other related data every decade beginning in 1980; WHEREAS, the next Census of Population (POPCEN) will be conducted in 2010 by the National Statistics Office (NSO); WHEREAS, the 2010 CPH aims to provide government planners, policy makers and administrators with data on which to base their social and economic development plans and programs; WHEREAS, the NSO conducted a data users forum for the 2010 POPCEN last September 3, 2008 and came up with a consolidated list of proposed data items for inclusion in the census based on the submissions of the various stakeholders in the region; WHEREAS, the RSCC recommended the prioritization of the proposed data items to better guide the NSO in deciding which items to consider in the 2010 POPCEN, and thereby created a Technical Working Group (TWG) composed of representatives from the NSCB, NEDA, NSO and BAS to do the prioritization; WHEREAS, the RSCC TWG came up with up its recommendations based on the results of its meetings held on September 19, 2008 and March 5, 2009; WHEREAS, among the main criteria used by the TWG in the prioritization of the data items were: 1) data capture developments after the last POPCEN in 2000; and 2) usefulness of data to a number of users; WHEREAS, in prioritizing the data items, lower priority was assigned to data items which are captured in other existing surveys; while higher priority were given to data items which are not presently generated; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to endorse to the NSO the prioritized list of data items for inclusion in the 2010 POPCEN (Annex-RSCC Res. 1-2009); APPROVED, this 25 th day of March 2009 in San Fernando City, La Union. |
