NSCB Releases 2009 Ilocos Region Regional Social and Economic Trends

As part of its continuing commitment to disseminate relevant information generated by the Philippine Statistical System to address the demand for more and diversified statistics for development planning at the regional and local level, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) releases the “2009 Regional Social and Economic Trends (RSET), Ilocos Region”.


The RSET features annual time series data that are useful for planning and decision-making and for setting policies towards effective governance and improved service delivery at the local level. It also contains data that are disaggregated in different dimensions and includes a glossary of terms of official concepts and definitions for statistical purposes.  Each chapter of the publication has brief sectoral highlights, statistical tables and charts/graphs to better guide the data users in their analysis of regional trends.


The RSET  presents data for 18 sectors, namely: 1) population and housing; 2) income and prices; 3) economy; 4) natural resources; 5) agriculture and agrarian reform; 6) industry; 7) domestic and foreign trade; 8) tourism; 9) vital, health and nutrition; 10) education; 11) labor and employment; 12) social services; 13) transportation and communication; 14) energy and water resources; 15) public administration; 16) money and banking; 17) public order, safety and justice; and 18) science and technology.


For the 2009 edition, the RSET includes a special feature on the Child Development Index (CDI) to provide relevant statistical information on children and development that will aid policy- and decision-makers in the implementation of programs and projects..The 2009 edition also includes updated tables on family income and expenditures based on the results of the 2003 and 2006 Family Income and Expenditures Survey.
