NSCB RD 1 RELEASES 2006 RSET ILOCOS REGION

 

The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) Regional Division I (RD I) announces the release of the “2006 Regional Social and Economic Trends (RSET), Ilocos Region.” The publication is available in printed and CD ROM copies.

 

The 2006 RSET presents data on various sectors of the region and its component provinces, cities and municipalities. This year’s RSET included a new chapter on Science and Technology aside from the 17 chapters that were already covered in the previous editions, namely: 1) population and housing; 2) income and prices; 3) economy; 4) environment and natural resources; 5) agriculture and agrarian reform; 6) industry; 7) domestic and foreign trade; 8) tourism; 9) vital, health and nutrition; 10) education; 11) labor and employment; 12) social services; 13) transportation and communication; 14) energy and water resources; 15) public administration; 16) money and banking; and 17) public order, safety and justice. Each chapter of the publication has brief sectoral highlights, statistical tables and charts/graphs to better guide the data users in their analysis of regional trends. The performance of the region in both social and economic sectors is also discussed in the overview of the region. Furthermore, the 2006 RSET featured the Millennium Development Goals, highlighting the MDG data that are available in the RSET and in the Ilocos Region.

 

The publication comprises annual time series data that are useful for planning, making decisions and setting policies towards effective governance and public service delivery at the local levels. The data were gathered from the results of surveys and censuses, and reports from administrative records generated by the different line departments and agencies that make up the Philippine Statistical System.

 

Copies of the publication are available at the National Statistical Information Center (NSIC) library which is open to the public for free. The NSIC is a one-stop shop of statistical information and services managed by the NSCB. It was established to facilitate data access. Updated and historical statistics on various sectors could now be availed at your fingertips through the center’s library without entailing any cost. It also offers other services that are customer-oriented such as the statistics inquiry and technical services. You may avail all of the NSIC services from Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. without noon breaks. For immediate statistical needs, go online with NSCB at www.nscb.gov.ph/ru1.
