Region I Gears for the 12th NSM Celebration

Secondary and tertiary level students in the region get the chance to showcase their statistical knowledge in four different contests when the region celebrates the 12th National Statistics Month (NSM) this October 2001.

Contestants for both levels should be enrolled secondary and tertiary students and are the champions in the province they are representing.

The NSM is being conducted by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 647 declaring the month of October of every year as the National Statistics Month. The annual celebration of the NSM aims at according the needed recognition of the importance of statistics while at the same time insuring the support of the public in improving and enhancing the quality of statistics in the country. The 12th NSM has for its theme: "The Role of Statistics in a Knowledge-Based Economy."
