Alaminos became a city
through the enactment of Republic Act 9025 otherwise known as "An Act
Converting the Municipality of Alaminos, Province of Pangasinan into a
Component City to be known as the City of Alaminos". This was signed on
March 5, 2001 and was voted affirmatively by the Aliminians on March 28,
2001.
It's conversion into a city brought investments that continue to propel the young city's economic enterprise. Traders and businessmen come to Alaminos because of its undeniably good environment for business. Alaminos City maybe young, but it is shaping up fast into becoming a "vibrant hub of Western Pangasinan and as a living showcase of a family-oriented, environmentally-sensitive growth with equity". More importantly, it is becoming not just about the Hundred Islands, but a city showcasing a vibrant and competitive local economy. The city is about five hours bus drive from Metro Manila and three hours from Baguio City. Public bus lines regularly plying the Pangasinan route are the Dagupan Bus Lines, Victory Liner and Five Star. |
