NEDA, NSCB and CHR Conduct Dissemination Forum on Region I’s Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Project

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), in collaboration with the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) and Commission on Human Rights (CHR), as its co-partners, will conduct a users’ forum on October 7, 2008, 8:30 am, at the ORT Training Center in San Fernando City, La Union for the dissemination of the outputs of the project  “Program Monitoring, Database and Rights-based MDG.” The main objective of the forum is the presentation of the outputs of the project to ensure their maximum utilization.

The MDG project, which aimed to synchronize efforts in monitoring programs/projects that contribute to the MDG at the regional and local levels,  was implemented in Region 1 starting in the 2nd half of 2007 through the financial assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).  It is part of UNDP’s “Achieving the MDG and Reducing Human Poverty Programme” with the NEDA Social Development Staff (SDS) as Implementing Partner and the NEDA Regional Office 1 as Responsible Partner.

The project has three major components, namely: 1) Establishment of Localized MDG Database and Manual on Concepts and Definitions (NSCB); 2) Rights-based MDG Indicators (CHR); and 3) MDG Monitoring (NEDA).  The outputs of the three project components which will be presented during the forum include the following: 1) Regional MDG Database; 2) Provincial MDG Database (pilot province); 3) Manual on Standard Concepts and Definitions of MDG Indicators; 4) Rights-based MDG Indicators; and 4) Framework for MDG monitoring.

The forum will be attended by MDG focal persons and statisticians of regional line agencies, local government units,  and academic institutions from Region 1.
