APPROVING THE CONDUCT OF THE SEARCH FOR THE BEST
NATIONAL STATISTICS MONTH (NSM) PROVINCE AND ACTIVITY IN
REGION I
WHEREAS, the National Statistics Month (NSM) is
celebrated yearly pursuant to Presidential Proclamation
No. 647 “Declaring the Month of October Every Year as
the National Statistics Month”;
WHEREAS, the annual observance of the NSM was envisioned
as a vital step in promoting, enhancing and instilling
nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance
and value of statistics to the different sectors of
society and as a vehicle in ensuring cooperation and
support of the general public in upgrading the quality
and standards of statistics in the country;
WHEREAS, the different National Government Agencies (NGAs),
Local Government Units (LGUs), Academe, Non-Government
Organizations (NGOs) and the Private sectors conduct
various activities, such as exhibits, statistical
contests, conduct of trainings, seminars, workshops,
symposia, conferences and Information, Education and
Communication (IEC) activities, for the celebration;
WHEREAS, the NSCB initiated the NSM awards systems in
2002 to encourage wider participation to the NSM
celebration and promote the conduct of activities that
will further the objectives and spirit of the NSM
celebration;
WHEREAS, the RSCC, being the coordinating body for all
NSM activities in the region, has envisioned, during its
4th regular meeting conducted last December
8, 2003, the same awards systems which shall be
conducted at the regional level (Best NSM Activity) and
provincial levels (Best NSM Province);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY
RESOLVED, to approve the conduct of the search for Best
NSM province and Best NSM Activity in Region I starting
in 2004;
RESOLVED FURTHER, to enjoin the various government
agencies, academe and private offices to actively
participate and support these contests which shall be
conducted yearly as part of the NSM celebration.
