The total population of Region I as of August 1, 2015 was 5,025,128, based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015). This accounted around 5.0 percent of the country’s total population of 100,981,437. Fish Production in Region I Decelined in First Quarter 2016

Fish production in Region I declined by 3.7 percent in 1st quarter 2016. The overall output was posted at 30,310 metric tons, lower than the output in 1st quarter 2015 of about 31,480 metric tons. Livestock and Poultry production in Region I posted positive growths in output in 2015. Production in the livestock sector went up by 2.21 percent and poultry sector grew by 2.08 percent in 2015. All livestock and poultry products recorded production gains. Hog that contributed the biggest share to the livestock production, recorded a 1.37 growth in output. Consumer Price Index Pegged at 163.3 in Q1 2016

9 in Every 10 Labor Force Population in Region I are Employed
(July 2015 Labor Force Survey)

The results of the July 2015 Labor Force Survey (LFS) revealed an employment rate of 91.8 percent for Ilocos Region. This was 0.4 percentage point lower than the 92.2 percent employment rate recorded in July 2014. The employment rate of the region was lower than the 93.5 percent employment rate of the Philippines. In terms of the labor force participation rate (LFPR) in Ilocos Region posted a decline of 0.5 percentage point from 61.2 percent in July 2014 to 60.7 percent in July 2015.
