NSCB Releases 2013 Advance Release Calendar of Statistical Outputs

The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) Regional Division I releases the 2013 Advance Release Calendar (ARC) of Statistical Outputs in Region I. The Regional ARC is the consolidation of ARCs submitted by various government agencies in Region I.


Tourist Arrivals in Region I Increased by 6.7 Percent in 2011

Based on the data from the Department of Tourism Regional Office I, the tourist arrivals of Region I totaled to 510,023 in 2011, an increase of 6.7 percent compared to 2010. The increase was attributed to the 10.8 percent improvement in domestic tourist arrivals which comprised 95.7 percent of the total tourist arrivals in 2011.

Since the release of the 2012 1st semester poverty statistics, including back estimates for the 1st half of 2006 and 2009, last Tuesday, 23 April 2013, we, the NSCB Technical Staff, have been all over the news. But one of the other things that we have to remember is that poverty has its link to education.

 

Boosting our Economy and Sustaining Economic Growth Through Tourism

With the goal of brining in more foreign tourists to our country, the Department of Tourism (DOT) aggressively launched a global tourism campaign with the catchy slogan "It's more fun in the Philippines." Domestic travel has also been strongly encouraged among our countrymen, especially as it is relatively much cheaper to fly these days.
