APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE OFFICIAL CONCEPTS AND DEFINITIONS FOR STATISTICAL PURPOSES FOR THE POPULATION SECTOR – BATCH 2

Annex BR-05-2008-01a

 

Note:    Metadata for the concepts for population statistics, which are defined below, are provided in Annex BR-05-2008-01b.

  1. Infant -  a child who is under one year of age

  2. Children  - individuals who are below 18 years of age

  3. Adolescents -  individuals belonging to the age group 10 to 19 years

  4. Youth - individuals belonging to the age group 15 to 30 years

  5. Older People/Elderly/Senior Citizens - individuals belonging to the age group 60 years   and over 

  6. Indigenous Peoples (IPs)  - a group of people or homogenous societies identified by self-ascription and ascription by others, who have continuously lived as organized community on communally bounded and defined territory, and who have, under claims of ownership since time immemorial, occupied, possessed customs, tradition and other distinctive cultural traits, or who have, through resistance to political, social and cultural inroads of colonization, non-indigenous religions and culture, become historically differentiated from the majority of Filipinos
