APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE POLICY ON THE REVISION AND AMENDMENT OF THE PHILIPPINE STANDARD CLASSIFICATION SYSTEMS

WHEREAS, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) develops and prescribes uniform standards and classification systems in the generation of official statistics to ensure harmonization and comparability of statistics in the country and at the international level;

WHEREAS, the NSCB periodically revises and amends these classification systems to take into account the emergence of new commodities, products, industries, educational programs and courses, occupations, local government units and purposes of expenditures, among others; increase or decrease in relative importance of existing items or disappearance from the market as a result of changes in technology and adapt changes in the revised international classification systems;

WHEREAS, the revisions and amendments shall be done in accordance with the approved Policy on the Revision and Amendment of the Philippine Standard Classification Systems;

WHEREAS, the Technical Committee on Statistical Standards and Classifications has recommended for the approval of the Policy on the Revision and Amendment of the Philippine Standard Classification Systems in its meeting held 20 February 2004;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the NSCB Executive Board approve the attached Policy on the Revision and Amendment of the Philippine Standard Classification Systems (Annex BR-01-2004-01) for adoption by all concerned agencies.
