ADOPTION OF THE PHILIPPINE STANDARD COMMODITY CLASSIFICATION, REVISED

WHEREAS, a standard commodity classification is necessary to ensure uniformity and comparability of commodity statistics compiled in the country;

WHEREAS, the UN Statistical Commission has revised the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC, Rev. 3) in 1985;

WHEREAS, the UN SITC is the basis of the Philippine Standard Commodity Classification (PSCC);

WHEREAS, the Tariff Commission has prepared and adopted the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System, otherwise known as the Harmonized System of the Philippines (HSP), which is aligned to the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System of the Customs Cooperation Council;

WHEREAS, there is a need to establish a one-to-one correspondence between the PSCC and HSP to facilitate translation of customs data in terms of the PSCC for purposes of economic analysis;

WHEREAS, the Technical Committee on Statistical Standards and Classifications (TC-SSC) through its Technical Working Group on Commodity Classification (TWG-CC) has prepared and recommended for adoption the Philippine Standard Commodity Classification (PSCC), Revised which is aligned to the SITC, Rev. 3, and the HSP;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the PSCC, Revised be adopted by all concerned government offices, agencies and instrumentalities and that the NSCB Secretary General be authorized to issue necessary guidelines for the implementation and dissemination of the aforementioned classification.
