Forms and Channels of Dissemination

In Print and Electronic Media

Statistical information in the Philippines is disseminated in printed or electronic form. The most common is printed publication. Recently, due to the high cost of printing publications, the data producers now use less voluminous printed materials such as press releases, factsheets, statistics series, special releases, bulletins, etc.

Data in diskettes, CD-ROMs and delivered through e-mail have been introduced to expedite data release as well as reduce cost of dissemination. These outputs are distributed to local and international government and private institutions, particularly libraries.

Statistics Libraries/Corners

All the statistical agencies maintain their libraries open to the public.  Other government and private libraries contain statistics corners where the statistical publications are available.

Statistics on the Internet

Almost all government agencies now have their websites and e-mail facilities through which they release the data upon availability while waiting for the printed publications. In the Internet, some agencies inform the users of the data release calendars, list of publications, databases and other products and services.

Statistics in Interactive Multi-Media

The statistical agencies are now venturing into CD-ROMs as a medium of disseminating and archiving information.
