(NSCB-PR-201309-PP2-01,, Posted 19 September 2013)
Pursuant to the Supreme Court decision dated August 10, 2012, Barangay San Isidro in the municipality of Bangui was transferred to the municipality of Dumalneg, both in the province of Ilocos Norte.
Consequently, the masterlist of barangays in the Philippine Standard Geographic Code (PSGC) was updated to reflect the transfer.
The newly transferred barangay now carries the municipality code of Dumalneg (012810) and assigned the code 012810002. Its previous code 012804013 in the municipality of Bangui, Ilocos Norte will be deleted in the PSGC masterlist.
With this update, the latest number of regions, provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays in the country remains the same as of June 30, 2013:

Regions 17 17
Provinces 80 80
Cities 143 143

The compilation of the PSGC is a collaborative effort of the Technical Working Group on Geographic Classification composed of Commission on Elections (COMELEC), National Barangay Operations Office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (NBOO-DILG), National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), National Statistics Office (NSO) and the NSCB Technical Staff.
The PSGC database, which facilitates the search for codes and relevant information on regions, provinces, municipalities, cities and barangays in the Philippines is lodged on the NSCB website with URL: http://www.nscb.gov.ph/activestats/psgc/default.asp
