Eight Women Officials of Cambodia’s National Institute of Statistics Visit NSCB for a Study Tour on Women Leadership and Gender and Development Indicators

Eight officials from the National Institute of Statistics (NIS), Ministry of Planning of the Royal Government of Cambodia will visit the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) on December 12-16, 2011 for a five-day study tour on women leadership experiences in the Philippines and on gender and development indicators.

The Cambodian delegation will be composed of Mrs. Hang Lina, Deputy Director General; Ms. Rin Sitha, Deputy Director Department, Mrs. So Sovannchakriya, Deputy Director Department; Ms. Meas Rathmony, Deputy Director Department; Mrs. Heng Vichet, Deputy Director Department; Mrs. Rin Sinourn, Bureau Chief of Department; Ms. Suy Sotheara, Bureau Chief of Department; and Mrs. Mey Sok Marad, Vice Bureau Chief of Department.                         

During the visit, the Cambodian delegation will be provided with lectures and  presentations on gender and development indicators and discussions on the initiatives   of the NSCB on gender and development, and sharing of experiences of NSCB and the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) women officials.  Among the invited resource persons who will discuss women leadership in the Philippines are Dr. Celia Reyes of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), Dr. Lisa Grace Bersales of the University of the Philippines School of Statistics (UPSS) and Executive Director Emmeline L. Verzosa of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).

The study tour  will also include field visits to and presentations of selected women leaders from the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), National Statistics Office (NSO), and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).

The provision of technical assistance, such as briefing/lectures/discussions on relevant indicator systems and good practices of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) to foreign delegations is a continuing commitment of the NSCB as part of its international cooperation program.
