One municipality converted into a city and two barangays created
in the 1st Quarter of 2010

A new city and two new barangays were added in the Philippine Standard Geographic Code masterlist during the first quarter of 2010. In summary, the following are the changes in the PSGC masterlist for the 1st Quarter 2010:
I. Conversion of the municipality of Biñan in the province of Laguna in Region IV-A (CALABARZON) into a Component City to be known as the City of Biñan (PSGC-043403000) which was ratified through a plebiscite conducted by the COMELEC on February 2, 2010 pursuant to Republic Act No. 9740; and
II. The Commission on Elections, after further verification of the exact coverage of the municipality of Shariff Saydona Mustapha in the province of Maguindanao created pursuant to Muslim Mindanao Autonomy (MMA) Act No. 252 and which was ratified through a plebiscite conducted by the COMELEC on July 30, 2009, confirmed the creation of two new barangays, Barangay Libutan (PSGC-153837015) from part of Barangay Libutan in the municipality of Mamasapano and Barangay Pagatin (Pagatin I) (PSGC-153837016) from part of Barangay Pagatin in the municipality of Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao.
With these updates, the latest number of regions, provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays in the country as of March 31, 2010 is as follows:
