The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) is now accepting prospective scientific papers to be presented during the 10th National Convention on Statistics (NCS) slated in October this year. The NCS is a triennial statistical event of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS), spearheaded by the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB). It provides a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences in the field of statistics and discussing prevailing statistical developments, issues and challenges in the PSS. The convention involves the simultaneous presentation in different scientific sessions of papers that dwell on various statistical topics. It aims to cover a wide range of topics that are relevant and critical in the new millennium and in an information-oriented economy.  It further aims to elicit the cooperation and support of statisticians and professionals in related fields from the government, academe and private sector towards a more responsive statistical system. 

For the two-day event to be held on October 1-2, 2007 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City, about 38 sessions are being prepared for the presentation of at least one hundred papers. A statistical information management exhibit will also be held. This event coincides with the opening of the 18th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration in October and the conduct of the International Conference on the Millennium   Development  Goals  (MDG)  Statistics  on October 1-3, 2007 also in the same venue.

The 10th NCS Bulletin No. 1, Call for Papers, which is a guide for possible paper writers on the mechanics and information on the submission of the abstract and paper and the application form are available for download on the NSCB website at http://www.nscb.gov.ph/ncs/10thNCS
