2003 Agency Statistical Calendar Now in the Web

The National Statistical Coordination Board, the policy-making and coordinating body of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS), is pleased to announce the release of the 2003 Agency Statistical Calendar (ASC) of national government agencies and instrumentalities through the PSS website http://www.nscb.gov.ph/pss/statcalendar/.  The posting of the ASC aims to facilitate wider and faster access by users to statistical information within the government bureaucracy. 

The ASC is a compilation of various government agency statistical activities for the year.   It highlights the different data generation activities and statistics-related activities of the agencies.  It contains information on the output frequency of the statistical activity and its frequency, and the level of disaggregation, and expected date and mode of release, and mode of and focal point for output dissemination.  The ASC is a useful guide to government policy-makers and planners, business executives, analysts and researchers, and other users of data in their search for statistical information from government sources.

The ASC has been compiled based on the reports of agencies to the NSCB.  The release of the ASC was is being advocated as a good practice in data dissemination with the objective of providing relevant, timely, useful and accessible data for decision-making of various stakeholders and data users.  This is in line with the Government Statistics Accessibility Program (GSAP) of the PSS which aims to improve the accessibility of statistical information and services.  The goals of the GSAP are to facilitate faster and sounder decision-making by making available timely and relevant data to users and to maximize the benefits from existing data collection in government.

To realize the goals of the GSAP, the ASC has included in this year’s release not only statistical agencies as sources of information but also other government agencies and instrumentalities that have wealth of information to share to the public.  The 2003 ASC aims contains to gather as much information as possible from a variety of sources in order to address the constantly evolving information requirements of our data users and stakeholders. 

The statistical calendars of government agencies and instrumentalities can be viewed and downloaded from the PSS website (http://www.nscb.gov.ph/pss/statcalendar/).  Updates will be available weekly.
