PROCLAMATION NO. 647
DECLARING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER OF EVERY YEAR
AS THE NATIONAL STATISTICS MONTH
WHEREAS, statistics plays a pivotal and crucial role in policy formulation, planning and decision making in both the government and the private sectors;
WHEREAS, the crucial role of statistics in nation building must be given the official recognition it rightly deserves;
WHEREAS, the observance of National Statistics Month will be a step towards promoting, enhancing and instilling nation-wide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value that statistics provide the different sectors of our society, while at the same time insuring the support of the public at large in improving and enhancing the quality and standard of statistics in the country;
WHEREAS, there is a need for an over-all coordinator of the different statistical agencies of the government to ensure the success of the various programs to be undertaken during the National Statistics Month;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the month of October of every year as the National Statistics Month under the auspices of the National Statistical Coordination Board.
All departments, agencies and instrumentalities of the national government, local government units, government owned or controlled corporations, the private sector, and the public at large are hereby enjoined to actively support the activities and programs for the National Statistics Month.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
