National Convention on Statistics

The National Convention on Statistics (NCS) is one of the major statistical events conducted by the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) and spearheaded by the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB).

The objectives of the Convention are two-fold, namely:

  1. to provide a forum for practitioners and theoreticians in the field of statistics to discuss prevailing issues and emerging developments affecting the PSS; and

  2. to elicit the cooperation and support of statisticians and professionals in related fields from the government, academe and private sector towards a more responsive statistical system.

The 10th Convention in October 2007 promises  to be  special  as it  coincides  with the  opening of  the 18th  National  Statistics  Month and the conduct of the International Conference on  the  Millennium  Development  Goals  (MDG)  Statistics  to  be  held  on October 1-3, 2007 also in the same venue.  The highlights of  the  two-day  Convention  include  the  presentation of  papers and holding of commercial exhibits.
