One Municipality, Four Barangays Created and One Barangay Reinstated ![]()

Muslim Mindanao Autonomy Act No. 106 “An Act creating the Municipality of Lumbaca-Unayan in the Province of Lanao del Sur, appropriating funds thereof, and for other purposes” issued on November 22, 2000 created the new municipality Lumbaca-Unayan and transferred to it nine (9) barangays from the municipality of Lumbatan, Lanao del Sur, ARMM.
In addition, the following updates on the Philippine Standard Geographic Code were made during the period October to December 2005:
As of December 31, 2005, the Philippines had 17 regions, 79 provinces, 117 cities, 1,501 municipalities and 41,980 barangays.
As the largest island in the country, Luzon now has 8 regions, 37 provinces, 57 cities, 690 municipalities and 20,056 barangays. Visayas has 3 regions, 17 provinces, 33 cities, 399 municipalities and 11,875 barangays while Mindanao has 6 regions, 25 provinces, 27 cities, 412 municipalities and 10,049 barangays.
