A City, Two Municipalities and Two Barangays [Visit Interactive Guide]
were Created from January to July 2004 ![]()

During the period January 1 to July 31, 2004, a city, two municipalities and two barangays were created. The municipality of Santa Rosa, Laguna was converted into a city pursuant to Republic Act No. 9264 dated March 10, 2004, ratified in the plebiscite held on July 10, 2004. The new municipalities created are Datu Abdullah Sangki per Muslim Mindanao Autonomy Act No. 153 dated August 20, 2003, ratified in the plebiscite held on January 3, 2004 and the municipality of San Isidro in Davao del Norte per Republic Act No. 9265 dated July 28, 2003, ratified in the plebiscite held on June 26, 2004. Also, two more barangays were created in Davao City, Davao del Sur, out of mother Bgy. Pampanga. Barangays Alfonso Angliongto Sr. and Vicente Hizon Sr. were created pursuant to Davao City Council Resolution No. 02565-03 and Davao del Sur Sangguniang Panlungsod Ordinance No. 0161-03, ratified in the plebiscite held on July 25, 2004.
The following barangays were transferred to the new municipalities:

Visayas has 3 regions, 16 provinces, 32 cities, 376 municipalities and 11,443 while Mindanao has 6 regions, 25 provinces, 27 cities, 410 municipalities and 10,044 barangays.
