OBJECTIVES

The Global Forum is envisioned to promote and coordinate international cooperation in the area of gender statistics by focusing on the institutionalization of the mainstreaming of gender in the whole national statistical system by international and regional organizations and development partners, in collaboration with NSOs and other authorities within the national statistical system.

It will also serve as a venue to highlight the need for statistics that will respond to requirements for monitoring progress towards the attainment of gender equity goals and targets, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs), the Beijing Platform for Action and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
