The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) releases its Annual Report for the year 2009. The NSCB Annual Report presents the agency’s accomplishments and other relevant information such as the agency profile, summary of major final outputs, and its significant achievements despite limited manpower and financial resources. The publication enumerates the performance of the NSCB based on its general thrust towards sound statistical policies, programs and standards, efficient production of timely economic and social frameworks and indicator systems, strategic information resource management, relevant statistical activities in the region and effective organizational development.
 
Among the noteworthy undertakings of the NSCB for the year contained in the Annual Report were those geared towards the improvement of the quality of the Philippine System of National Accounts (PSNA) such as the adoption of the recommendations of the 1993 and 2008 versions of the System of National Accounts and the overall revision and rebasing of the PSNA to a more updated base year (from 1985 to 2000). The other outputs mentioned in this Report responded to the concern to address the statistical requirements of the global crisis through the creation of the Task Force on Flash Indicators to Measure the Impact of Global Crisis in the Philippines (TFFI) and the compilation and release of the 2006 poverty statistics for eight basic sectors.

In addition, the Report also discusses the collaboration/coordination of the NSCB with its stakeholders thru interagency committee meetings and the conduct of consultative and dissemination fora on national accounts, poverty and children statistics, and on statistical capacity building, among others. These landmark activities undertaken by the NSCB in 2009 signified its total commitment to deliver high quality statistical service to its stakeholders as a world class statistical agency.
