Announcement
NSCB to Disseminate 2003 City and Municipal Level Poverty Estimates ![]()
(WA-200903-SS2-02, Posted 27 March 2009)
The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) has released the 2003 City and Municipal Level Poverty Estimates for dissemination in CD-ROM to all 1,622 cities/municipalities, national and local government agencies/units, and major stakeholders and users of poverty statistics. This is an output of the World Bank Trust Fund for Statistical Capacity Building (WB TFSCB)/NSCB Intercensal Updating of Small Area Poverty Estimates Project, which was undertaken in response to the need for poverty statistics at lower levels of geographic disaggregation. The small area estimation (SAE) methodology, which combines survey and census data, was used to generate the estimates.
The CD also features provincial poverty maps and highlights actual policy uses of small area poverty estimates (SAPE) in the Philippines and in other countries. It also includes definition of terms, methodology, results of the validation workshops and advocacy activities on the project outputs, and lessons learned from the Project. The dissemination of the report is aimed at raising awareness among various stakeholders of the relevance and usefulness of SAPE for policymaking and program planning.
