NSCB Issues Updates on Women and Men in the Philippines
(posted 25 March 2008)

In support of this year’s celebration of Women’s Month, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) has issued a fact sheet focusing on the latest statistical updates on women and men in the Philippines. This year’s release includes new tables on Filipino youth aged 15-27,  based on the results of the 2002 Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality Study (YAFS 3) of the UP Population Institute and the Demographic Research and Development Foundation, Inc. The new set of indicators includes youth population, educational attainment, main activity, attitude on sex-related issues and youth experience of violence.

The fact sheet contains more than 50 indicators covering ten socioeconomic sectors and gender concerns. It also includes data from the latest statistical reports and publications, such as the October 2007 Labor Force Survey, 2006 Survey on Overseas Filipinos, 2006 ASEAN Statistical Yearbook, among others. It hopes to provide relevant, and user-friendly information on gender issues that are deemed important to planners, researchers and other users in gender and development advocacy, planning, programming and policy setting.
