Dr. Tito A. Mijares, one of the pillars of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS), passed away last August 18, 2003. He was 80. His remains lie in state at Funeraria Paz, Araneta Avenue, Quezon City. Funeral Mass will be on August 23, 2003. Cremation follows afterwards.

Dr. Mijares held various positions in the government service and private sector among which were the following::

Former Deputy Director General – National Economic and Development Authority Statistical Coordination Office
Former Chairman – Statistical Advisory Board
Former Executive Director - National Census and Statistics Office
Former Dean – UP Statistical Center
Former Project Director – Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP), Tokyo, Japan

As a respected statistician and academician in the country, Dr. Mijares will be given eulogies by his colleagues in the PSS during a necrological service to be held on August 23, 2003.
