1. To determine the needs and uses for price statistics and prepare an order of priority for the compilation of the more important and/or new series;
2. To assess and evaluate existing price statistics as to their quality, usefulness and timeliness and determine areas of duplication, as well as gaps;
3. To study present techniques and methodology employed in the production of price statistics and recommend measures to obtain more accurate and meaningful price data;
4. To study new methodologies and techniques and evaluate their relevance and usefulness for the Philippine economy;
5. To develop an efficient workable scheme for the allocation of agency responsibilities in the production of general price statistics.
